The Photo Group is taking a rest at the moment.

It will return in a revised format at some time in the future.

If you would like to be advised as to when it comes back, please

subscribe to my newsletter for updates.

“It doesn't matter if you use a box camera or you use a Leica; the important thing is what motivates you when you are photographing."

Photo Group

Exploring the connections between art and photography.

Learning the rules of composition by rote is all well and good, but if you want to improve your image making, then you can do a lot worse than look at more pictures.

Running alongside my Introduction to Photography classes, which concentrate on the basics, this is an informal group intending to develop the “seeing eye."

This is a bit more than just looking at pretty pictures though, and we don't limit ourselves to photography.  We'll examine the stories, the motivations behind the works, the historical context, and in doing so, gain some insights into the creative processes of the masters.

We'll look at the traditional and the more Avant-garde, so be prepared to maybe have some preconceptions challenged, (in a friendly way!).

There will also be opportunities to share and discuss your own work  (no pressure at all) with other attendees, plus occasional demonstrations of photographic techniques.

This all takes place in an environment of non-competitiveness, fun, and encouragement. All levels of experience are welcome; the only thing needed is an open mind.
